Travelers share what appears to be an unusual offer from the airline, which has tempted passengers to give up on their seats in the flight.
On the “R/Delta” Reddit forum, the flyer has given up on the $2,800 seat, titled “A Post.”
“I’ve never seen this offer go so high. I went from Seattle to Palm Springs last week and arrived at the gate.

Users wrote that due to mechanical issues the plane was replaced by a smaller one, prompting the airline to ask passengers to abandon their seats.
“The original offer was not a delta mile or credit, but an actual visa gift card worth $1,000 and a hotel voucher real visa gift card,” the post continued.

Users shared that offers began to increase as passengers began boarding planes.
“The two jumped for $2,200, another guy took $2,500, and the older couple eventually took $2,800. They were leaving, so they said, ‘We’ll use the money to pay back the car,'” the user wrote.
Users asked why they didn’t offer $2,800 to people waiting for the Delta to fly, and why they didn’t offer a hotel voucher, promising to pop out the next day.
“They are also making that offer to people waiting for someone to abandon their tickets (?),” the user asked.

A Delta spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “In a rare event on a flight sold, Delta asks us to volunteer with a compelling offer for people who are flexible on our people.” I’ll force it to.”
Rule 20 has denied boarding compensation on Delta’s website under the carriage agreement.
“Before denying passengers who hold bookings confirmed on oversold flights, Delta will ask other passengers on the flight to voluntarily abandon their seat in exchange for compensation for the amount and form determined by Delta in its sole discretion,” the rules state.

“It could happen… longer people hehe more amounts,” one user said.
“I was sleeping at the airport for $2,800. I tried it for $1,200 each, and the two people in front of me beat me,” another said.
“It’s amazing how hundreds of people jump up.”
“I had a friend who did this every year in Mexico on New Year’s Day. She basically went to the airport with the intention of paying $600-800 to stay for a day,” another user commented.

“They need to avoid unwilling boarding, so they’re just as expensive. For example, you can provide $1,000, a confirmed seat for your next flight, and a hotel if your next flight isn’t there. The next day, the gate agent will accept it immediately, just to put out a flight,” another person wrote.
“It’s amazing how hundreds of people are jumping up all the time,” the user wrote.

“If you are waiting in the lounge before your flight, has anyone received these offers?” asked one. “We hope we’ll text requests through the app, not just announce them at the gate.”

Brandon Bruwett, author of Texas-based How to Avoid Strangers on Airplanes, said to Fox News Digital that these offers will start with check-in at the airline app or kiosk prompt. He said there were a lot.
“If there are not enough volunteers early on, gate agents will escalate offers, sometimes including alternative flights with other airlines and cash equivalent gift cards such as Visa or Amex,” he said. I said that.
