Jayden Daniels stole the show with his historic performance in the Week 3 win over the Bengals on “Monday Night Football,” but what he and his team were able to accomplish together was even more impressive.
That’s a one in a million chance. Wait, it’s even more unlikely than that.
They’ve scored on every drive except kneel downs for the second straight game. On Monday they had eight drives that ended in five touchdowns, one field goal and two drives that ended in kneel downs at the end of each half. In Week 2 against the Giants they had seven field goals and one kneel down at the end of the half. That’s basically a 100% scoring percentage.
Games like this are extremely rare. Since 2000, there have been 10 games in which a team has scored on every drive except the knee-down, making that odds more than 1 in 1,300 (considering there have been 12,990 games, including playoffs). The Commanders have done it twice in a row, making it a 1 in 1.7 million feat.
But for those who say “but they told me I didn’t need to do the math,” here’s a simpler breakdown: Jayden Daniels has played two NFL games in which his team scored on every drive except knee-downs (three starts total). Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and Patrick Mahomes have each done that twice combined in their careers, including playoffs (1,094 starts).
In a word, unbelievable.
