NEW ORLEANS – The Kansas City Chiefs entered the Super Bowl LIX, wanting to be the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. That’s what they found on Sunday There’s a reason No such feat has ever been achieved.
At some point, all teams encounter challengers designed to beat them. That’s exactly what happened at Caesars Superdome. Not only were the Chiefs beaten by the Eagles, they were also beaten by the 40-22 blowout, the team’s second-largest Super Bowl loss in the last decade. (Kansas City owns the biggest losses. There is a 31-9 trucking in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ hands at Super Bowl LV.)
The Chiefs played on Sunday night, as they spent 24 straight hours on Bourbon Street before kickoff. They totaled 23 yards in the first half, with the first one closed. The only reason this hasn’t become one of the worst routes in Super Bowl history is that Kansas City managed to score 16 garbage-circulating points in the fourth quarter.
So what exactly did not work for the Chiefs? In a nutshell, everything. But that’s an ambiguous explanation, so let’s take a look at the three areas where Kansas City ruined the proverb dog.
Super Bowl 2025: Chief Patrick Mahomes sees the Eagles’ quiet confidence, young talent sees defense

The offensive line was bullied
Coaches always say: If you win in the NFL, you need to win in the trench. That’s exactly what the Eagles did in this game. The Chiefs offensive line essentially got the whole game. So the Chiefs have completely removed the rhythm offensively.
When the offensive line is beaten to that extent, that’s because sometimes the defense throws something new to them, just like Bill Belichick beat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII. That wasn’t the case in this game. According to Chiefs Center Creed Humphrey, Kansas City was ready for what Philadelphia was trying to do, but it couldn’t stop the NFC champions from doing that.
“They didn’t look different. They didn’t show anything that wasn’t skated,” Humphrey said after the game. “It came down to them coming out and playing harder.”
It’s not something you want to hear your center say after the game, it’s the best explanation of what happened, let alone the Super Bowl. This was about kicking the old-fashioned ass with the Eagles, which put pressure on 38.1% of the snap, according to statistics from the next generation of the NFL, despite not subtle the entire game. The Chiefs were unable to stop two defensive players Josh Sweatt (2.5 sacks) or Milton Williams (2 sacks), two defensive players who have blown up Kansas City multiple times.
Mahomes was fired six times in the game and it was in the regular or postseason that he was taken to the ground during his career in the game. The Chiefs have talented offensive players, such as Joe Sunny, but most of their plays didn’t let sweat go. It wasn’t that good for three other starters along with Humphrey, Mike Kaliendo, Jawan Taylor, or Trey Smith.
The AFC team may want to start taking notes: If you want to beat Mahomes, the secret is not to chase him off, but to beat him.
Mahomes has ever had one of his worst games
The Chiefs’ offensive line was defeated by the Eagles, but you can’t pin them all responsibility. That’s because Mahomes had one of the worst performances of his career. The three Super Bowl winners turned the ball more than three times, including two costly interceptions in the first half with very poor throws.
The first pick took place midway through the second quarter, and it was a backbreaker. Mahomes threw a pick six at Cooperdejan.
Mahomes rolls out of his pocket and has plenty of time to throw, so Mahome is the only one who can blame this pick 6. That intercept raised the Eagles 17-0, and from there it was clear that Mahomes was taking advantage of some of his patented magic if the Chiefs were back in the game, but worse yet There was no magic.
Later in the second quarter, Mahomes threw another pick, and once again, it was his fault.
Yes, Zach Bounn played great, but it was a dangerous throw and Mahomes probably needs to do so as the chiefs sat on their six-yard line and played in half with less than two minutes left. It was a risk that I didn’t take. After that intercept, the Eagles scored another touchdown. At that point, the Eagles had risen 24-0.
The Chiefs only had 23 yards in the first half of the nightmare, when Mahomes finished with a 10.7 QB rating. When Mahomes is at his best, the chiefs are almost impossible to beat, but when he is in his worst condition, this game is what happens.
Who won the Super Bowl 2025? Jalen hurts, Josh Sweat soars for the Eagles. Chiefs Office Ladies stand out as the biggest loser

Jalen Hurts is Steve Spagnuolo’s Cryptonite
The defense of Spagnuolo is an important reason why the chieftain was able to build a dynasty. Since hiring him in 2019, Kansas City has gone 16-2 in the postseason heading for Super Bowl LIX. If Spagnuolo had one Kryptonite in his career, it’s thinking of a way to stop Jalen’s pain.
You may have heard that Mahomes was 8-0 against Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, up to the Super Bowl, but the fact that Health had already achieved a huge Spanish success was forgotten. It looked like there was.
The best passing game of Hearts’ regular season career entering the Super Bowl? That came against the Chiefs when he threw 387 yards in a 2021 game against Kansas City. It also came against the Chiefs when they threw 304 yards in Philadelphia’s 38-35 defeat to the Chiefs of the Super Bowl LVII.
They were not admitted as the Eagles lost both games, but the wound definitely didn’t fly under the New Orleans radar.
Apparently the Chiefs’ defensive game plan was to stop and inflict a wound on Saquon Barkley at any cost. In that case, it backfired spectacularly. Especially for coach Andy Reid, who went 33-7 in his career with an extra week of preparation for his opponent.
Earlier in the first quarter, it was revealed that Hearts would be a problem. On Philadelphia’s second drive, he threw two passes for at least 20 yards, including Jahhandtson’s 28 yards.
After Dotson dropped the Chiefs down to the one-yard line, Hertz did his best. He scored on a tash push and took a 7-0 lead with the Eagles.
In the second half he iced the game with a touchdown pass to Devonta Smith essentially with a 46-yard touchdown pass.
After the Chiefs failed on their fourth down, it was one play and felt like a dagger that ended the game (though it was only in the third quarter). Hurts was almost perfect, throwing the ball for 221 yards and two touchdowns. This performance made him the second quarterback in Super Bowl history, completing at least 70% of his passes with three or more total touchdowns in multiple Super Bowls, joining Tom Brady.
He was running even further, as the wound was as good as he was throwing. He took off as needed and made the most of each rush. The Hearts finished the game with 11 runs for 72 yards and finished as the Eagles leading rush. This sets the record for most yards rushing at quarterback in Super Bowl history. -Spagnuolo’s defense.
Spagnuolo and Chiefs were severely injured by Hurts. Even if the chief’s crimes were working on Sunday night, there is no guarantee that Kansas City will win. The Hearts were playing well enough that Philadelphia could have easily won the Super Bowl LIX in the shootout.
