The crocodile made famous by his appearance in the 1986 film “Crocodile Dundee” has died, his former Australian reptile and aquarium attraction announced on social media.
Bart, the iconic saltwater crocodile who appeared in the blockbuster movie alongside Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlovsky, was thought to be over 90 years old.
Darwin’s Crocosaurus Cove said in an Instagram post that Bart passed away peacefully over the weekend, “marking the end of an incredible era.”
“Bart’s life is a story of strength, resilience, and character as bold as the Top End itself,” the post continued. Captured in the Reynolds River in the 1980s, Bart has become one of the world’s most famous crocodiles, featured in Crocodile Dundee, and hails from a land of rugged natural beauty and awe-inspiring wildlife. contributed to shaping Australia’s image.
Bart visited Crocozarus Cove in 2008 and has since become a “fierce and engaging crocodile education ambassador,” according to the aquarium.

In the film, Mick Dundee, played by Hogan, switches from the Australian outback to the concrete jungle of New York after meeting an American reporter played by Kozlovsky. Bart is seen in the scene where Kozlovsky’s character is attacked while kneeling next to a stream.
Bart will be presented with a commemorative autograph at Crocasouras Cove.
