Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning got his chance on Saturday, playing in a game against UTSA due to an injury to Quinn Ewers.
Manning energized the Longhorns’ offense with 67 rushing yards and four passing touchdowns in the team’s 56-7 victory.
Manning’s foot speed is something most fans have never seen in a player with his football pedigree: His grandfather Archie and uncle Peyton each had 18 career rushing touchdowns, while another uncle, Eli, had seven.

Where does his speed come from? Arch’s father, Cooper, says it comes from his mother.
“He definitely got his speed from his mom,” Cooper, Peyton and Eli’s older brother, wrote in an Instagram post.
Archie Manning’s mother, Ellen Hidingsfelder, is a highly successful attorney in Louisiana who keeps a low profile. According to Crumbs and Chaos, she played volleyball and ran track and field in her youth.
The Texans quarterback is still expected to start as a reserve once Ewers returns from injury, but the Longhorns have a clear idea of what Manning can bring to the offense when he finally gets an opportunity to start.

It’s questionable whether Ewers will be able to play in the game against Louisiana-Monroe.
“I don’t do anything,” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday, via ESPN. “Arch is just another player on our team. I can do that because that’s the kind of player Arch is every day. He’s an unselfish teammate. He cares about the players on our team. He cares about Quinn. They have a great relationship. He works hard. He knows how hard everybody works, so he wants to play good football for everybody on our team.”
“So I literally don’t talk to him about it. I don’t talk to the team about it. He’s just part of the team.”
