Apple iOS 18.2 was released on Wednesday, bringing new Apple Intelligence features to iPhone users. The latest mobile operating system introduces some widely anticipated AI-powered features from the iPhone maker that weren’t included in previous software updates.
The upgrade includes improvements to the phone’s camera, photo, and email apps.
How to download iOS18.2
The new operating system is available to the general public who own an iPhone that can run iOS 18. However, only iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 users who own older iPhone models can access some Apple Intelligence features. Contents of the iOS 18.2 update.
To download Apple’s latest mobile software, go to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone and download iOS 18.2. This software is only available in beta mode.
What’s new?
The new update includes Apple Intelligence tools like Image Playground, Genmoji, and more.
Image Playground is described by Apple as a tool that allows users to create “fun and playful images in multiple styles” using photos from their camera roll. Genmoji allows users to create custom emojis. Additionally, a new tool called Image Wand lets you turn your sketches and handwritten notes into typed notes.
ChatGPT support, another new feature in iOS 18.2, gives users direct access to ChatGPT through both Siri and the writing tool.
Apple Intelligence also powers other new features in the update. For example, users can now point the camera at buildings, objects, or even businesses, and Apple Visual Intelligence provides information about what the camera is capturing.
The upgraded Mail app organizes your messages into categories to make them easier to understand.
When announcing the new feature, Apple said there was more to come. AI-powered features released in the coming months will be more tailored to users’ preferences, the tech giant said.
