Argenis Ibarra and Flores-Bello pleaded guilty to possessing fake green cards under different names on February 23, 2024, and in December 2024, to possessing fraudulent documents. But they remained in America.
In Wednesday’s verdict, U.S. District Judge Tillman E. Ebara ordered Diego Ibara to be placed in custody of the US Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the end of his federal prison sentence, and Alzenith Ibara and Flores Bello to be placed in ICE custody immediately.
According to court documents and statements, the Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) was notified of Diego Ibarra’s illegal presence on February 23, 2024 during the investigation into the murder of Laken Riley.

Athens Clark County Police Department (ACCPD) officers at the time searching for Jose Ibarra approached Diego Ibarra after matching his brother’s description.
Diego Ibarra was detained for giving ACCPD officers a fake green card when asked for identification.
Investigators later discovered that his journey to the United States was linked to multiple illegal border crossings.
He was first sent back to Mexico on April 3, 2023 after entering the United States near Eagle Pass, Texas, according to a statement from the US Lawyer’s Office for the Central District of Georgia.

Less than a month passed on April 30, 2023, he attempted to break into the country with four other Venezuelan men, crossing the border near the Isletta station in El Paso, Texas.
In a fight with US Border Patrol (USBP) agents, Diego Ibarra grabbed and threw the agent’s service radio before biting it. The encounters were divided by members of the National Guard.
He complained of back and leg pain before being taken to the hospital. He was attributed to scaling and falling from the border fence during illegal crossings.
After admitting that his injuries were not due to a fight with his agents, he insisted on exile and the “fear of returning” to Venezuela.

The ACCPD also responded to a national incident involving Diego Ibara and his girlfriend on September 26, 2023.
While jailed at the Butts County Detention Center for fake documents found during the Riley murder investigation, Diego Ibarra caused “severe floods” when he smashed the prison’s cell block fire sprinkler system, according to a statement.
On June 25, 2024, prison guards spotted a thorny with two improvised weapons, including a sharp sprinkler head with makeshift grips and a pen wrapped in saran wrap.
Court documents state that Diego Ibarra is likely partnering with Venezuelan illegal immigrant street gangster Tren DeLagua (TDA), based on evidence that includes multiple TDA tattoos and photos of him on social media, including evidence of TDA gang signs and wearing TDA clothing.
