American Airlines As more carriers have opted for free internet services for loyalty program members and put pressure on holdouts, they plan to offer free Wi-Fi starting in January.

American Airlines’ in-flight Wi-Fi regularly exceeds $20 per flight. The carrier said that free services will be available on Intelsat-equipped planes starting in January. Viasat Satellite Wi-Fi will account for around 90% of the fleet by next year. Some American age Boeing WideBodies does not have free services, but Wi-Fi is available.
American Airlines was testing its services on certain routes. The airline also said it plans to install high-speed internet services on 500 local planes by the end of next year.
Southwest Airlinesone of the industry’s outliers has not said whether they are considering free Wi-Fi on board.
