As of Wednesday, May 7th, the implementation of the actual ID has led some Americans to think about and share concerns about new travel requirements.
Even though TSA is running a “Be Your Real ID Self” campaign and shares the individual’s identification with “must be a real ID to travel,” some passengers are keeping an eye on the latest message on current airport policy.
One Redditor said on social media that “rhetoric was dialed about actual ID situations.”

“It may be affected by additional screening because it “must adhere to your actual ID.” Read the post saying “still go outside and get your real ID, people.”
“Okay, then give me an extra screening,” another user joked.

The other is, “Having a passport or an actual ID/other accepted document is of greatest concern to everyone.”
A TSA spokesperson told Fox News Digital “passengers presenting state-issued identifications that are not compliant with the actual ID at the TSA checkpoint and passengers who are not notified that another alternative form of ID will not be breached.”

“(They) could be directed to another area and undergo additional screening,” the spokesman said.
Users shared their thoughts on May 7 in a Reddit thread entitled “Real ID Apocalypse Starts Tomorrow” on Tuesday.

Another Redditor said, “I’m sure there’s a loophole. Heck, I’ve seen people fly with absolutely no IDs, just extra security checks.”

“Travelers must use an updated actual ID license or passport/passport card while traveling, and many people don’t have it,” one user claimed.
One Redditor posted about the flight without an actual ID, saying, “The Director of Homeland Security says travelers who don’t have an actual ID can fly for now, but there are additional steps.”

On the TSA website under “Real ID,” the agency lists what happens if the flyer does not present an actual ID or other compliant identification.
“We will present the TSA checkpoint with a state-issued identification that is not compliant with the actual ID, and another acceptable alternative form of ID will be notified of a violation of compliance, directed towards another area and receive additional screening.”

Under the “security screening” section of the site, the agency noted that there is a possibility of additional screenings, such as “puttdown screening.”
“Additional security measures have been implemented until you reach the airport, until you reach your destination,” he said.
