FRISCO, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys spoke to the free agency running backroom alongside several veterinarians on a one-year deal with Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders.
On the first pick on the third day of the 2025 NFL Draft, Dallas chose a young back that has been around for some time to Texas Longhorns Rusher Jadon Blue. He is a skilled receiver out of the backfield on various routes and co-led with his six touchdowns among running backs in 2024. The blue weighs 196 pounds in the NFL scouting combination, standing 5 feet-9 as long as the NFL running back goes. He has the potential to bring the ball home with every touch if he is sticking to football, thanks to his moving speed (4.38 seconds 40 yard dash, 4.38 seconds 40 yard dash, 2nd fastest); Blue had seven fumbles in three college seasons, including five in 2024.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones loves his connection to Texas. After missing a running back in the fourth round of the draft for the second year in a row, Jones lands one in the fifth round with pick No. 149.
Jaydon Blue NFL Draft Grade: C+
It’s not the RB’s BellKype, but blue can fly. That’s the theme of his entire game. If there is a crease, he will be an explosive play. Similarity of cutting skills. No one would bounce back many tacklers, even if it was overly elusive. —Chris Trapaso
