Brazilian police said on Sunday that the two were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to explode a bomb at a free Lady Gaga concert in Rio de Janeiro.
Saturday’s event attracted around 2 million fans to Copacabana Beach.
The state police in Rio de Janeiro said they have worked with the Department of Justice to disrupt attacks planned by groups spreading hate speech against the LGBTQ community. Police said the group attempted to radicalize and recruit teenagers and carry out the attack using Molotov cocktails and improvised explosives.
“The plan was treated as a ‘collective challenge’ with the aim of gaining infamy on social media,” police said.
Authorities said they arrested two people in connection with the planned attack. A group leader on illegal weapons possession charges in the southern part of Rio Grande Dur and a teenager on child pornography charges in Rio.
The concert was the biggest show of Gaga’s career.
“Tonight we’re making history,” Mrs. Gage told the screaming crowd. “Thank you for making history with me.”
Mother Monster, as she is known, launched the show with her 2011 song “Bloody Mary” shortly after 10pm local time. A cry of joy rose from the nervous fans who sang on the wide sand, dancing shoulder to shoulder.
The concert organizers said 2.1 million people, funded by the city of Rio, attended the show to stimulate the economy. In a recent report, Rio City Hall said the show should bring at least 600 million Lewis, or about $106 million.

“Today is the best day of my life,” said Manola Doves, a 27-year-old designer who has been wearing a photo-painted dress since she met Lady Gaga in the US in 2019.
Madonna also transformed Copacabana Beach into a huge dance floor last year.
The massive performance is part of an effort led by City Hall following the Carnival and Great Year Day festivals and the month-long St. John’s Day celebrations in June.
“It brings activity to the city during what was previously considered low season. It fills hotels, increases spending in bars, restaurants and retail, and generates employment and income for the population,” Osmar Lima, the city’s economic development secretary, announced last month by the tourism division of Rio City University.

Similar concerts are scheduled to take place annually until at least 2028.

“I’ve been a 100% Lady Gaga fan for the rest of my life,” said Serrano, who has been wearing a t-shirt featuring Lady Gaga’s quirky outfits for many years.
For her, the megastar represents “the perfect freedom of freedom of expression – being the person who desires without shame.”
Rio officials have a history of holding a large concert in Copacabana Beach. The Madonna show gained an estimated 1.6 million fans last year, but 4 million people flooded the beaches due to the 1994 Big Ve Day show by Rod Stewart. According to Guinness World Records, it was the largest free rock concert in history.
Sixteen sound towers spread out along the beach so that fans could listen to the songs.

The Rio security plan included 3,300 members of the military, 1,500 police officers and 400 firefighters.
Among the attendees were Lady Gaga admirers who remembered their disappointment in 2017 when the artist canceled a scheduled performance in Rio due to health issues.
Ricardo Philho, a fan since childhood, said it was worth the wait.
“She is the best artist in the world,” the 25-year-old said as a hymn of “Gaga, I Love You,” which rose from the crowd behind him from the Portuguese crowd.
